Crew/Sous Chef 60+m SY
A private 60m+ classic sailing yacht with is looking for a Crew Chef to join them for mid January 2025 in the UK.
This is a well reputed program with an excellent record of crew longevity on board.
We are looking for a female or male crew cook who has a minimum of 9 months experience working on yachts.
While sailing ability is less important, time spent on sailing yachts is a benefit due to the additional challenges that heeling angles bring to the galley. The head chef has 3 months leave per year, so outside of providing nutritious and balanced meals for the crew you need to be able to handle provisioning, galley management and cleanliness as well as accounts when on your own. When the head chef is onboard you will work together as a team.
They are currently in the Shipyard and have extra crew for this period.
They have around 20 crew and dayworkers, so the job currently involves cooking from one of the crew houses and delivering lunch to the shipyard, and then delivering dinner to 2 crew houses. The next three months requires someone who can manage their time well and provide healthy food to the crew whilst managing the budget set by the Captain.
Their schedule for next year will be:
Shipyard in the UK from January – April
Passage from UK to Med for the summer in the Med. Next winter in the Caribbean.
Experience: 9 months minimum experience on yachts
Certification: Ships Cook Certificate (If not held then this would need to be acquired before or soon after joining)
Itinerary: UK- Med- Caribbean
Male/female: Female preferred DTCA but male will also be considered Start date and joining location: early January, UK
