A 34m world cruising sailing yacht is looking for a new chef to join the boat in Japan early April.
Female due to cabin arrangements. Crew onboard are healthy and active, the vessel runs with 6 fulltime, very friendly and involved crew with activities outside of work. Preferred sailing yacht experience and cooking underway. Proven record of good working relationship with the stewardess is important.
The boat see’s 4-5 months of owner use every year.
From Japan we will be sailing across the north pacific through the Aleutian islands and down the Alaskan coast to Canada. This trip will be an extensive sailing trip so a chef with good ‘at-sea’ experience is a must. Preparations for this and provisioning in remote places will not be easy so looking for someone who enjoys a challenge or who has worked with off the beaten track programs before. In regards to the remoteness of the program skills like baking, sour dough, homemade ice-cream, are necessary.
The owner is American, from the south, enjoys simple and spicy food. No big portions but well put together plates. North American food style is a must for him with the occasional oriental dish. Galley cleanliness and work space management is a must as the galley is quite central in the boat and the owner likes to pop down and chat.
After Alaska, Canada they will be cruising south towards Panama with possible trips in Mexico and central America.
Candidates without B1B2 will not be considered. US passport or B1B2 crew only.Salary is DOE and paid in USD
