A 88ft custom high-performance sailing yacht is seeking an experienced Captain to join a long-term private family program based in Coconut Grove, Florida.

This is a rare opportunity to take command of a brand-new custom sailing yacht, featuring a carbon hull and carbon rig, recently delivered from the UK. The yacht is privately owned and operated, with a hands-on owner who enjoys being involved onboard and values practical, enjoyable sailing over formality.

The program is centred around family use, including regular weekend sailing, regional cruising and one longer trip each year. There is a strong emphasis on safe, enjoyable sailing with children onboard, making this an ideal role for a Captain who enjoys family-oriented programs and creating positive experiences on the water.

The ideal candidate will be a sailor first, with extensive offshore and bluewater experience on similar-sized sailing yachts. This is not a step-up position and requires someone with previous command or senior officer experience on large sailing yachts. Strong technical ability, sound judgement and a calm, practical approach are essential.

The owners are looking for someone interested in a long-term position, who is happy to be based full-time in Florida when not underway. A Green Card holder is preferred, although candidates with a valid B1/B2 visa will also be considered.

The role includes overall responsibility for the operation, maintenance and management of the yacht, as well as building a positive onboard culture. The previous Captain remained with the owner for eight years, highlighting the stability and longevity of the program.

A two-bedroom townhouse is provided for the captain close to the marina, with the garage being used as a workshop and storage.

Qualifications required: 10+ years experience preferred, YM Offshore absolute minimum but OOW/Master 200 or USCG 500 Ton Master ideally.

Itinerary: Florida for day sailing, 1 or 2 trips further away a year.
