Captain & Cook/Stew 24m SY

A 24m commercial sailing yacht is seeking a Captain and Cook/Stew couple to join on a permanent basis from mid-October or early November.

The Malta-flagged yacht is currently in a reputable shipyard in Portland, Maine, undergoing significant works including an engine replacement and general maintenance. She is due to launch in October before departing for the Caribbean in mid-November, with plans to attend the Antigua Charter Yacht Show in December. The ongoing programme will operate between the Caribbean and Mediterranean.

The Captain must be a confident and resourceful sailor with previous command experience and the qualifications required to operate a commercial vessel. The Cook/Stew should have previous experience in a similar dual role and be confident with cooking, provisioning, menu planning and maintaining the interior.

The yacht operates with three crew. A couple is strongly preferred, although suitable individual candidates may also be considered.

Captain requirements:

  • Commercially endorsed Yachtmaster

  • GMDSS

  • STCW

  • ENG1

  • Powerboat Level 2

  • Seafarer’s Discharge Book

Cook/Stew requirements:

  • Previous Cook/Stew experience

  • STCW

  • ENG1

  • Food Hygiene and Safety certificate

  • Seafarer’s Discharge Book

Both candidates should be well-natured, sporty and resourceful, with healthy lifestyles and fluent English. Non-smokers only. Strong references and the appropriate visas for the programme are required.

  • Start: Mid-October to early November

  • Contract: Permanent

  • Combined salary: DOE

  • Medical cover provided

  • Charter gratuities expected
